Hill visits Florence Speedway for North-South 100 weekend
Vic Hill traveled to Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) on Thursday afternoon to pilot a secondary Garrett Smith-owned No. 1V Late Model for the 46th running of the Sunoco North-South 100 weekend.
With the massive 61 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned field divided in two for a pair of prelims on Thursday and Friday leading up to Saturday’s finale, Hill laid down the second-fastest lap in his time trial group before placing fourth in his heat. Chasing a $5,000 payday in his prelim, Vic dropped three spots to finish 19th.
For Friday’s $5,000-to-win prelim, Vic’s fifth-place finish in his heat race pinned him on the 10th row for the feature. Losing one spot in the 25-lap affair, Hill crossed the line in 21st.
With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for heat races on Saturday, Hill recorded a sixth-place finish in his heat, relegating him into a consolation race. Needing to place second or better to make the $75,000-to-win Sunoco North-South 100, Vic fell short with a fifth-place finish. He earned a spot into the non-qualifier feature where he recorded a seventh-place finish.
