Vic Hill kicks off 2023 season at Bulls Gap

Vic Hill invaded Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Tuesday afternoon to kick off his 2023 season aboard his Estes Bros. Construction No. 1 Late Model.

Drawing 40 XR Workin’ Man Series entries for the Spring Thaw Warmup, Hill timed in seventh-fastest in his group before placing eighth in his heat, sending him into a B-Main. Locking the top-five into the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Vic retired with four laps remaining in his consolation event.

Returning to the 4/10-mile oval on Saturday after an unfavorable forecast shortened the XR Super Series-sanctioned Spring Thaw 100 to a single day, Vic’s ninth-place finish in his heat relegated him onto one of two consolation races for another shot at the $100,000-to-win A-Main. Needing to place second or better, Hill fell short with a 14th-place outing.
