Vic Hill bags fourth place finish in Fall Nationals opener at Smoky Mountain
Taking part in the Labor Day weekend doubleheader, Vic Hill visited Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Saturday night for the Schaeffer’s Fall Nationals sanctioned program. With 23 cars on hand for the Rockin’ with the Stars Hall of Fame 100, Hill laid down the fastest lap in his time trial group, which positioned him on the pole for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. After jumping out to a commanding lead, Vic made contact with the wall on lap 27 while trying to avoid a lapped-car that dropped him back to fourth, trailing Mike Marlar, Austin Kirkpatrick, and Dale McDowell across the line with David Payne coming in fifth. The following night at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.) for the Buddy Rogers Memorial, Vic secured his spot into the main event with second fastest time in his qualifying group behind Donald McIntosh. With $4,400 on the line, Hill suffered a flat tire on lap 40 while running in third that sent him into the pit area. Coming from the tail of the field for the final four circuits, Vic Hill salvaged an eighth place outing.
